ITES Activity 3- GRUER

I feel that there are many similarities and differences between the ITES and the other ES of other subject  areas. While both follow the Revised Blooms Taxonomy (RBT), using the same verbage, the ITES and other ES focus on different core subject areas.

For instance ITES focus on the main core areas that would pertain to Information and Technology.
  • Sources of Information (SI)
  • Information and Text (IT)
  • Technology as a Tool (TT)
  • Research Process (RP)
  • Safety and Etical Issues (SE)
Where other core areas focus on the core areas in their subjects such as Physical Science and Natrual Science.

While these topics may be different the verbage used in each core area is the same according to RBT. Such verbs include:
  • Analyze
  • Revise
  • Classify
  • Categorize
  • Evaluate
  • Understand
  • Apply
  • Design.
No matter the subject you visit the verbage and ultimate thinking process is the same, the subject area is different.

  1. Tami, I guess great minds think alike. We have the same template and similar comments. The first thing I noticed was the common words in the standards. The skills of applying, evaluating, etc. are used in all areas.

  2. Tami,
The organization of your blog makes it easy to understand. Thinking about RBT with the standards is helping me come up with a strategic way of planning and and teaching these standards. Oh the places we will go. Enjoy

  3. Tammy:

I agree with your statement that "no matter the subject you visit the verbage and ultimate thinking process is the same, the subject area is different.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

  5. Hi Tami,

I also liked how you organized your blog. We teach a multitude of skills that are integrated in to all the other subjects. I agree that no matter the subject the verbage and ultimate thinking process is the same. The standards build with each grade level and the objectives are broad.

    Thank you.

  7. Tammy,
I enjoyed reading your quick and easy blog. It is very similar to what I was trying to say about common verbage and commonalities in my blog, only you did a better job in writing your blog. I was in a rush and didn't do such a "pretty" job in posting my blog. Thanks for showing such a good example of how to blog.
I look forward to seeing more of your work. You really seem to have such a good grasp on how to post.

  8. Good morning, Tammy!
I'm demonstrating the etiquette of blog commenting to participants. We really enjoyed reading your blog today. I like the fact that you included the verbs that are commonly found within the standards. Do you recognize where those were taken for the purposes of these new standards?
Have a great day, and happy blogging!

  9. Hi Tammy!

Thanks for your quick synopsis of the similarities. I hope we as media specialists will be able to share ITES information with teachers without overwhelming them and making them shriek in terror, and I think your blog is a good introduction. :)
